Yard Work

I worked soooo hard yesterday cleaning the yard. I trimmed the bushes that grow over the fence from the neighbors. 4 bags. I mowed the lawn. 2 bags. Gavin raked the leaves. 1 bag.
Bring on the wind, rain, and what! More leaves all over the lawn. Big ones, little ones, red ones, yellow ones. All my hard work and I never got to enjoy it. Don't get me wrong I love Autumn time. I love the fall colors. I love the cool temps. I just wanted to see the cleaned green grass for more than 10 minutes. It is a lot like house work. It never stays clean.

Happy Birthday!!

It is GREAT to be 8!
Happy Birthday Gavin!!!
Wow! How time flies. I remember the day you came home from the hospital. Your first birthday, Camryn and you in your dump truck. Like 2 peas in a pod. Big surprise that you are called "the twins".

This year Gavin wanted to control his birthday party. He made his own invitations with his friend Cole. Luckily Lauren spilled the beans and I was able to attend. :) When the kids all arrived we played a sports obstacle course that consisted of football, soccer, and T ball. Then they played flag football. I really didn't have much to do with any of it... just the cake.

Gavin will be baptized the end of October. He started going to scouts last week. I have to say it again. Wow! How time flies.

Treasure Box Boutique

So it is that time of year again. Krishel(my darling sister -in-law)'s boutique in my dad's storeage garage. And this year I have decided to boldly go where I don't dare to go. I am custom cutting vinyl. Major stretch for me. Heck, lately doing something that doesn't involve work or kids is a Major Stretch for me. I love being mom. I also love being Allison. Actually I called my vinyl company Aly's Vinyl. I don't really think of my self as an Aly, but it sounds cute.

But anyways, there is a lot of cute stuff this year. Scott Sumner has photographs that are breath taking. Krishel has her worn and tatter furniture all very cute. And Angie (my sis) and I have displayed our collection of TLC scrapbooking kits. I made some blocks that say "spooky" and "boo". I wouldn't mind if they didn't sell.. they would look really cute in my house.

Oh! Oh! speaking of my house. We got new carpet! It is like having a new house. The previous owner was really big on light colors. The cabinets are light, carpet was light, walls were white except where there was wall paper boarders. Now I have my chocolate wall, my red wall, shaggy brown/creamy speckled carpet in the 2 bedrooms up, and dark brown plush - you don't need a pad it's so plush - $40/sq yard plush carpet in the family room. I love it. I am really big on browns. I feel like this is a new house again.

boutique - 5500 S. 3500 W. Roy - Saturday Sept 27 10 am to 4 pm. See ya there!

Albertson's

Ok! I am a little obsessive. A couple weeks ago I bought 20 boxes of jiffy pop (3 pack) popcorn for 30 cents. Tonight I spent a ton more! I saved $128.66 using my Albertson's preferred savings card and an additional $46.95 in coupons. I frequent a website grocerysmarts.com they help me know what coupons to use and when. They also have a link to manufacturer coupon I print at home.
3 boxes of Lucky Charms - 3 boxes Cheerios - 2 boxes of Reese's - 7 boxes toaster strudel (they are good til March 2009) - 4 pouches cookie mix (for neighbor Christmas gifts) $1 each - 4 box muffin mix - 2 boxes fruit snacks - 5 boxes granola bars - 2 boxes veggies - 4 warm delights (visiting teacher gifts) - 3 Yo plus yogurt - 4 Trix yogurt - 5 Pillsbury crescents - 2 Chex mix - 4 El Paso taco shells - 5 Pillsbury Sweet Rolls - 4 already made cookie dough (can freeze up to 2 months) - 6 Progresso soups - 3 Campbell's soups so we can turn in the label at school - 10 cans Cream of Chicken soup 10/$5 from a rein check. I saved $35 in buy so many get $5 from Albertson's.
Box Tops -
I earned 120 bonus box tops for a total of 190 or $19 for my kids school just by buying the thing I use in major bulk... Wanna know the grand total for all these goodies. I bought 91 items, saved $175.61 and spent $96.25. Wow! Mom! Austin would be so proud! - Oh! Albertson's is having their Quarter sale in the next week or two where I get my Quick Oats for $1 per container!

Girly Do's

I found this fun blog all about girl hair do's. I was so excited! Lauren and Londy were great subjects. Londy read 6 stories while I worked on her upside-down do. And Lauren still got to put her hair in a pony... it's just a fancy pony. Check out her blog http://girlydos.blogspot.com.

Books

I have graduated, it is official, from Dr. Seuss to books without pictures (novels). I love books. My kids have an extensive book collection. And each year when the book fair comes around, I cannot say no. We order books from scholastic almost monthly. We have read Dr. Seuss of course, Disney stories, Junie B. Jones is a classic at our house, Magic Tree house, Peter Pan and the Shadow of Thieves, the Harry Potter series, and lots of other books in between. My mom and sister share a love for reading. They are always swapping books. They read the Twilight series together. My BFF Alese convinced me to start reading them. She is really big into books on tape. (she listens while at work). I became addicted to Twilight almost immediately, it was an easy read and the kids were in swim lessons. I could read for at least 30 minutes a day uninterrupted. I read the series in just under a month. The last two books only took days.
My sister, Angie, shared the Glass Castle a Memoir by Jeannette Walls with me. I loved it. The fact that it was true really hit home with me. In my little bubble I believed that everyone had a childhood similar to mine. My childhood was very grounded and stable. My parents were big on traditions or doing the same things over and over each year just the same as last year. Jeannette's only stability was her siblings who shared this adventure with her. I loved it. Did I already say that?
Work started a book club. The Woods by Harlan Coben is our first read. I get kinda obsessive when I read. I want the instant gratification of a movie. So I read for hours at a time. Last night well lets just say that 1:30 am came pretty quick. I am not a fast reader and really didn't like reading until just recently. In the past reading was my way of treating insomnia or spending time with the munch kins. Until now.
I cannot wait until Breaking Dawn by Stephanie Meyers is hear. My kids will be ignored, and they have been warned.
